28 June 2021 – Barnardos 16th Annual School Survey remains open until July 5 giving parents and children another week to shine a light on the real cost of Ireland’s free education system. To date, 1,318 parents and young people have participated in the survey to advise what the cost is to them of returning to school, and how they feel about the year ahead. The survey is available at www.barnardos.ie/backtoschool2021
Returning to school each September can be a challenging period for both parents and young people. Parents may experience additional financial pressures in meeting the extra costs associated with the period. They may also be concerned about the educational readiness of their children to return, particularly in the aftermath of the year that has been, and the impact it may have on their overall wellbeing. Barnardos hope to highlight the experiences of children and parents throughout 2021 and are acutely aware that this year the pandemic may have heightened anxieties further.
Parents and children can take the Barnardos School Costs Survey online at www.barnardos.ie/backtoschool2021
The survey will remain open until July 5 and results will be released at the end of July.
