How did you hear about us?

Roots of Empathy was a brilliant programme from start to finish and exceeded my expectations. Not only did it highlight all the progress my baby was making but it also gave Freddie lots of meaningful interactions and confidence. He enjoys social situations and I think its down to our monthly visits to our Roots of Empathy classroom. Holly our Co-ordinator made the whole experience so enjoyable and always rang in advance to make sure we were both comfortable with the lesson! I also loved an excuse to get out and about and getting all the photos in a book at the end of the programme was great to have for him when he grows up! Thanks Roots of Empathy

More information

Roots of Empathy is a programme for primary school children. The programme’s aim is to increase empathy – the ability to understand how another person feels.

Children learn to care for and respect each other, which leads to a reduction in bullying and aggression.

At the heart of the programme are a neighbourhood baby and parent who visit the classroom every three weeks over the full school year.

Here’s how it works:

  • Babies must be between 2 and 4 months old between September and November 2024 to take part in the programme.
  • In other words – Babies born between June and September 2024 are the perfect age to do the programme!
  • Our programmes will be starting between September and November 2024, and will continue through to the end of the school year – we ask families to commit to the entire programme.
  • The programme helps children to learn about a baby’s needs and how babies develop, and lets children observe the loving relationship between a parent and baby.
